Meet John Alge, Thornton Community Champion!

John Alge has proudly called Thornton home for nearly seven years. A dedicated public servant, John is an Army veteran and a retired U.S. Postal Service mail handler with an impressive 33 years of federal service.

John’s commitment to serving others didn’t end with retirement. For over a decade, he has been actively involved in the fight against hunger—volunteering at food banks both across the Front Range and in his previous home of Northeastern Ohio. During his time with the Rotary Club of Northglenn-Thornton, John led their annual food drive, helping provide critical support to families in need.

John currently serves on the Thornton Active Adult Advisory Board (TAAAB), where he plays a key role in the group’s affordable housing work. From March 2022 to March 2024, he also served as a member of the Thornton Arts, Sciences & Humanities Council (TASHCO). During his time with TASHCO, John was an active member of the Pride Subcommittee and was instrumental in launching Thornton’s annual Pride Party—an event that continues to bring the community together in celebration and solidarity.

At home in the Cherrylane neighborhood, John enjoys spending time with his wife, their two cats—Darth and Storm—and their dog, Rocky. Whether he's serving the community, organizing for equity, or enjoying time with his family, John brings heart, experience, and dedication to everything he does.
